A pendulum with known energy strikes a sample supported as a horizontal beam, causing the sample to break with a single impact. The impact line is located at the midpoint between the two supports. The energy absorbed by the sample during fracture is determined by the energy difference of the pendulum before and after impact. Then, the impact strength is calculated according to the original cross-sectional area of the sample.
